Houston Federal Courthouse, TX
Courthouse Image
Named after a Democrat who represented Houston in Congress from 1959 through 1975, the Bob Casey Federal Courthouse is the headquarters of the Southern District of Texas. A jury here convicted two Enron executives in 2006 on fraud and conspiracy charges for deceiving shareholders about the company’s value. Enron’s 2001 bankruptcy, in which it reorganized or liquidated $63.5 billion in assets, cost 4,000 employees their jobs and marked the largest corporate bankruptcy in U.S. history. Enron lost the biggest bankruptcy title to WorldCom in 2002.
