Denver County District Court, Colorado
The Denver County Court is housed in the City and County Building on the west end of Civic Center Park. The Beaux-Arts Neoclassical building designed by the 39 members of the Allied Architects Association of Denver and was completed in 1932. The granite façade was sourced from both Colorado and Georgia, and carved by John Garatti, a Venetian-trained master carver from Minnesota. While many of the offices have been updated, the original marble includes travertine from Howard, Colorado, white Yule marble from Marble, Colorado and pink Tennessee marble. Today the building is best recognized for its Christmas light display which has been a tradition since 1935. (Amanda Pampuro / CNS)
